The Good Soil: A Discipleship Study is by E.O. Valle, published 1 November 2025 (ISBN 979-8-9891602-8-0).
What it is
A small-group study built on the parable of the sower, working from the premise that the seed in that parable is constant and the soil is the variable. Discipleship, on that reading, is mostly about the condition of the ground rather than about acquiring more input. It uses explanations, guided study, and discussion prompts, and is designed so a leader without training can run it.
Choosing the sower as the organizing parable is a sound instinct for a men’s group. It puts the uncomfortable question first, which is not what you know but what is choking it.
What we could and could not verify
This is a very new self-published title, released in November 2025, and there is essentially no independent review coverage. E.O. Valle maintains an author site, so this is a findable author rather than an anonymous listing, but we could not verify a ministry background, a page count, or the number of sessions.
Our old review described key themes, daily-life application, and reader reflections in confident detail. None of that was verified and the reader reflections were invented. It is all gone. If you are planning a group calendar, check the contents in the preview first.
One buying note
The audiobook edition is narrated by Amazon’s Virtual Voice, which is synthetic speech rather than a human reader. Sample it before buying if you were planning to listen.
Where we land
A reasonable, cheap option for a group that wants a study on the parable of the sower and does not need an established name. Buy it on the strength of the topic and the preview, not on reviews, because there are not any yet.
