Men of Valor by Griff Pemberton: A Small-Group Bible Study Review

Review of Men of Valor: Small Group Bible Study Series

Men of Valor: Small Group Bible Study Series is written by Griff Pemberton, who has spent more than three decades preaching, teaching, and writing Bible studies. It’s an independently published small-group curriculum built around what it means to live as a man of God: character, leadership, fatherhood, faith, and pushing through adversity.

The structure is what you’d expect from a solid small-group study: discussion questions, Scripture tie-ins, and prompts meant to get a room of men talking honestly instead of staying on the surface. It’s built to be led, with guidance for whoever’s running the group on how to keep the conversation real instead of polite.

Where it earns its keep is in the questions themselves. They’re not softball prompts. They’re aimed at accountability, prayer, and actually checking in with each other, the kind of study that only works if the men in the room are willing to be honest. Used that way, with a group that takes it seriously, it does what it sets out to do.

It can technically be worked through solo, but that misses the point. This is a group study, and it’s worth gathering a few men together and working through it that way.
