The Seven P’s of Biblical Manhood: A 7-Day Devotional for Men is by Dewayne Rembert, independently published in 2025 (ISBN 979-8-299-39820-5).
Seven days, not seven weeks
Read the subtitle carefully. This is a one-week devotional. It is not a study, a course, or a program, and it will not carry a men’s group through a season. Priced and sized as what it is, that is fine, but our earlier review talked about it as though it were a long-term discipleship resource. It is a short on-ramp.
The seven P’s
The framework is Penalty, Power, Presence, Priest, Prophet, Protector, and Provider, one per day. Each day pairs a Scripture passage in the New Living Translation with a short reading, a reflection, a practice, and a prayer. The listing also describes sidebars, memory verses, and note pages.
The last four of those, Priest, Prophet, Protector, Provider, are a familiar way of describing what a man is supposed to be in his home. It is a useful teaching frame and a lot of men have found it clarifying.
It is also more specific than Called to Better goes. We hold that men and women have different but equal roles, and we deliberately do not define those roles past what Scripture plainly says. A four-part job description for a husband and father is a step beyond that. Plenty of faithful Christians use this framework and plenty of faithful Christians think it reads categories into the text that are not there. Take the book as one teacher’s structure rather than as settled doctrine.
Who wrote it
Dewayne Rembert is a pastor and speaker in Montgomery, Alabama. He serves as Church Planting Strategist for the Montgomery Baptist Association, leads Flatline Church at Chisholm, and founded the Flatline Movement. He is a real and findable minister, which is worth stating in a category full of anonymous devotionals.
This is self-published, so there was no outside editor and there is almost no independent review coverage. That is not disqualifying. It does mean the sales listing is most of what exists to go on.
What we removed
The old review claimed a consensus among men in the Called to Better community who had used the devotional. No such group read it. That passage was invented and it is gone.
Where we land
A cheap, short, well-organized week for a man who wants a starting point and will actually finish something seven days long. Do not expect it to do more than that, and hold the seven-part framework loosely.
