It is a companion, not a standalone book
This is the single most important thing to know, and our previous review got it wrong. The journal is a workbook designed to accompany Alston’s book Faith-Fueled Finances, walking through each chapter of that book with exercises and prompts. It does not teach the material itself.
If you buy the journal on its own, you will have a set of questions about a book you do not own. Buy the book first, or buy both. We reviewed the main book separately, and that review is the one to read if you are deciding whether the material is for you.
What a journal like this is actually good for
Workbooks fail for a predictable reason: people buy them, fill in two pages, and stop. They work when there is something forcing the pace, usually a group meeting weekly or a spouse doing it alongside you.
If money is a live tension in your marriage, working through prompts together is a reasonable way to have conversations that otherwise get postponed indefinitely. Alone, on your own initiative, most men will not finish it. That is not a criticism of this particular journal. It is true of nearly all of them, and it is worth being honest about before you spend the money.
What we could not verify
We could not confirm the page count, the number of exercises, or whether the journal covers every chapter of the source book or only some. Independent review coverage is essentially nonexistent. Check the preview.
Our old review described this as an interactive guide that helps readers align their financial lives with God’s plan, which is publisher language rather than an assessment, and it did not mention that the journal depends on another book. That omission is the reason we rewrote this page.

Only worth buying if you already have, or are buying, Faith-Fueled Finances, and only if you have a reason you will actually finish it. Otherwise start with the book.
