This is a companion. It works chapter by chapter through Fascinated Prayer with Bible study, reflection questions, and daily prayer practices. Without the book it is a set of questions about an argument you have not read.
The main book exists in several formats, including a Kindle edition and an audiobook, and there is an optional video course and coaching sold separately through the author’s site. Buy deliberately; there are more products here than there are ideas.
What the material is actually about
Mootz’s argument is that prayer is meant to be enjoyed rather than endured, and that most Christians treat it as an obligation because nobody taught them otherwise. The twelve steps are a structure for moving from duty toward something closer to friendship with God.
That is a fair aim and the workbook format suits it, because a habit like this changes through repetition rather than through reading about it once. Whether the twelve-step scaffolding helps or feels mechanical will depend on you.
What we removed
The old review quoted the book saying prayer is “an invitation into friendship with God” and quoted a reader on how the questions helped them. Neither could be verified. The invented “Reviewer Reflections” section is gone as well.
Where we land
Reasonable companion material for a man who wants to work on his praying with some structure. Buy the main book first, and check whether the workbook is already bundled with it.
